The goal of the SMART CENTER is to fulfill the promise of the Fourth Industrial Revolution of improving the quality of life for the world’s population by merging smart technologies with humans’ physical lives.

Northeastern SMART fosters partnership between university, industry and government stakeholders to create new generations of smart devices and systems that are required by a number of industries including the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, Digital Agriculture, Robotics and Healthcare.

Postdoc Position on Sensor Projects at SMART Center

The Postdoc will be working on research projects related to the design, fabrication, testing and packaging of microelectromechanical devices for infrared spectroscopy and their integration with lasers and gas cells into a low-power, miniature and light-weight greenhouse gas sensor system suitable for the development with drones.

 

Congratulations Center’s PhD Graduate – Sungho (Ryan) Kang successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitles “Plasmonically Enhanced Infrared Sensing Microsystems” on January 11, 2022.

Congratulations Center’s PhD Graduate – Flavius Pop successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitles “Intrabody Communication for Real-Time Monitoring of Implanted Medical Devices based on Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers” on December 1, 2021.

Congratulations Center’s PhD Graduate – Vageeswar Rajaram successfully defended his PhD Thesis entitled “Zero Power Microelectromechanical Sensors for Large-Scale IoT Applications” on September 14, 2021.

SMART Center received recognition from the academia, industry, and government agencies on its Annual Workshop on Nano Systems Innovation (NanoSI2021).

SMART Center was highlighted in a pre-recorded video case study within the official broadcast at this year’s Joint MRS (Materials Research Society) Virtual Spring and Fall Meeting, Nov 28 – Dec 4, 2020.
